The Crew

Kelly

Kelly has been boating for over 20 years on lakes and rivers in Missouri and Arkansas. She has owned and operated power boats and jetskis. She has been on two sailboat charters in the British Virgin Islands on a 40′ monohull and a 40′ Leopard catamaran. Kelly learned from those experiences that she is definitely not a monohull sailor. She completed her ASA BKS, BCC, BBC and CAT classes in Fort Lauderdale, FL (ok, mostly in Biscayne Bay). She learned that running a boat is not all fun and games and that she is really good on the helm of a catamaran. She also has the most local knowledge of the South Florida area, where Kelly and Chris expect to start their sailing adventure.

Chris

Chris started sailing in 2001 in the San Francisco Bay area and acquired his ASA BKS, BCC and CON certifications at Spinnaker Sailing in Redwood City. He took his BBC certification on a monohull in the British Virgin Islands. After taking CAT and ACC in the San Francisco Bay, Chris started down the path to become an ASA Instructor by earning his BKSI, BCCI, BBCI, CATI and CONI. He was an instructor at Spinnaker Sailing for BKS and BCC in Redwood City and BBC and CAT in the BVIs and St. Martin. He joined the Sequoia Yacht Club in Redwood City and went on to be the Beer Can Racefleet Captain for two years. Chris raced in Antigua Race Week in 2005 and ran the support catamaran for three other international races. He has chartered in the BVIs, St. Martin, St. Barts, Anguilla, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Estuatia, Antigua, Guadeloupe, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. While he owns a Merit 25 and sails it on a small lake in Missouri, Chris agrees with Kelly that a catamaran is in their long term sailing future.
